Heal Detroit

Are you exhausted seeing the same sad stories and headlines day after day?  The violence and tragedy within our communities has become a ‘new normal.  It’s easy to feel hopeless after so many senseless and preventable tragedies.  The need for healing is clear and we’ve decided to dedicate ourselves into turning our grief and outrage into a call to action.  As such we are convening The Heal America Tour in Detroit.

The Heal America Tour travels to various cities with one mission in mind, to revive hope and bring healing across our nation.  The tour started in Dallas with a day worship service. We are bringing that same worship service to Detroit and the surrounding communities.

As a part of the community of believers we are asking you to come celebrate with us as we worship to Heal Detroit.  This special worship service will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at Greater Grace Temple at 4:00 p.m.   We also ask you to invite as many believers as you can. 

It is being sponsored by Bishop Omar Jahwar and Urban Specialists.  Bishop Jahwar has spent the last twenty-five years faithfully pursuing the mission of interrupting the culture of senseless violence. He has traveled the world negotiating peace and creating socially civil pacts among some of the nation’s toughest gangs and empowering those who are essential to bringing about change in the community. 

Heal Detroit will include cultural giants of this generation, invited panelists and various special guests to remind those who work to heal our city, that they are not alone.  It will serve as an opportunity for various resources to connect with each other and to broaden their efforts. Heal Detroit will also serve as a bridge of hope and healing for all individuals who continue to fight injustice, polarization, inequality and for improving the quality of life in our city.

The only thing that could add to this pivotal moment is your presence!  Please join me to witness and participate in this experience as we usher in a new wave of hope that inspires us all to continue working towards the greater good.  We hope you and your congregation will plan on attending this special worship service.
